Hi, I'm Julia!
I've beenĀ passionate about artĀ from an early age, especiallyĀ painting portraits and animals. After school, I pursuedĀ book studies, German studies, and artĀ history at Johannes Gutenberg UniversityĀ Mainz (Masterās in 2012, PhD in 2017).
During my studies,Ā I focused on Johannes Gutenberg and the invention of book printing, particularly the fascinatingĀ transition from manuscripts to mass-produced books, where hand-painted details still made each copy unique.
InĀ 2013, I began painting reproductions of Gutenberg BibleĀ pages, combining my love for art with my academic background. Since then, Iāve worked as a freelance artist,Ā specializing in illumination. Over time,Ā Iāve received many questions about my techniques, and now, Iām excited to share my knowledge.
